An introduction

Yeah yeah yeah, I know what you’re thinking while you’re reading this. Why does this guy have a whole website with an about us page but still want to write a blog introducing himself? Isn’t that redundant?

Yeah, it is. But I’m a writer along with being an editor and a live AV tech. Also, it’s my website and if you don’t like the idea of a blog post introducing myself, don’t continue reading!

Still there? Cool! Thank you! So if you didn’t gather, my name is Adam though I operate on a professional level as AME Postproduction. Does that mean I’m solely an editor? Absolutely not. I named my company AME Postproduction because it’s my initial with the great loves of my life. My wife is the M, my daughter is the E, and I will forever and always love postproduction. From the intro to video class I took sophomore year of college through this very moment, I’ve always loved putting the puzzle together in a compelling and intriguing way.

So my background, I have a degree in Film and Video Studies, I cut my teeth on Final Cut Pro 4, moved onto 5 and 6 in college and then 7 when I graduated. I started cutting on Premiere in 2011 and haven’t looked back since. Most people laude Davinci Resolve, but I’m an Adobe devotee. I’ve been in the live event space since 2017 and that transition happened quite by chance. I answered a call for an editor at a local production house, ended up going on shows as a graphic and playback operator, transitioned to webcast operator during the pandemic, and have since parlayed my post skills into onsite editing and delivery.

I’ve worked in house for the American College of Cardiology, SAIC, Marriott International, and CVW Event Productions and have independently worked with NASA, the Association for the Supervision of Curriculum Development, the International Monetary Fund, as well as on shows for Axios, Punchbowl News, the Institute of International Finance, and Concordia just to name a few.

So, yeah, I kinda know what I’m doing. I’ve run camera, I’ve been show caller, I’ve run graphics, playback, and webcast, and I’ve edited with a speed that both exceeds client expectations, and amazes them.

But, therein lies my problem. Will I ever brag about myself? No. I’m not that type of person. I’m humble, I’m quiet, I relish in being the reliable person on set that will get the job done and fade into the background. If you’ve done your job right, people won’t know if you’ve done anything at all. So I’m hoping this can be an outlet for me to discuss projects, write out some of my doubts and fears with this industry, and maybe help regulate my own inner monologue.

So welcome! If you’ve made it this far, let me leave you with this fun fact.

Actor Roy Scheider improvised the famous “Jaws” quote, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
